Abstract

Physical activity appears to decline the most during adolescence. Sedentary behavior was linked to physical activity, obesity markers, and gender, and it is also linked to a variety of negative health outcomes. The purpose of this study is to determine the description of body mass index (BMI), total sitting time, and exercise barriers in college students. This research is a cross-sectional descriptive study. A total of 40 respondents completed this online self-reported survey. Participants in this research were students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Universitas Negeri Malang. This study showed that the majority of respondents had a normal BMI, the primary obstacle for college students participating in sports was a lack of time and busy, and girls spend more total sitting time than boys. Students need health promotion so that they are interested in and are able to exercise on a regular basis. More research is needed to determine the factors that influence sedentary lifestyles in college settings.
